Portsmouth Football Club (nickname Pompey) was founded in 1898 and play their home games at Fratton Park, in Portsmouth. The original kit was a salmon pink shirt with white shorts and maroon socks. This was changed in 1909 to white shirts with royal blue shorts and socks. This was changed again in 1911 to blue shirts, white shorts and black socks. This remained Portsmouth's home strip until1 1947 when the socks changed to red. This saw the colour combination that Portsmoth are now famous for. The most common away colours used by Portsmouth have been white shirts with royal blue shorts and either white or royal blue socks. Yellow shirts with blue shorts have also been used salmon pink, black, orange, navy blue and gold have all made breif appearances.
